They say it’s never too late to start! As an adult, choosing to start drum lessons with Chris at Dynamic Drum School has been one of the greatest joys in my life! Growing up, I had always wanted to learn and just never committed to it. I decided to go for it, and I have really fallen in love with playing the drums! It’s with the support, guidance, and help of Chris. He is an amazing drummer and instructor, he knows exactly how to approach each student and scaffold accordingly. Dynamic Drum School offers a really great curriculum with helpful resources and supports for practicing. As someone who loves learning, Dynamic Drum School is not just a drum lesson, it is a whole bank and wealth of knowledge and resource. Chris is patient and kind. He does a great job not only teaching, but meeting you where you are at. It takes a lot of expertise and knowledge to be able to what he does. And he does it well! This review is long over due but Chris at Dynamic Drum School is an excellent instructor with a vast range of experiences and education under his belt. I went to learn jazz drum set and as a new student to the instrument, I couldn't have picked a better teacher to start with. Chris has a background in jazz but is very well versed in all styles and can help you get better at whatever your goals are (technique, style, performance, repertoire, etc.). I think one of the most valuable things about him is that he is a great teacher. He can break things down, analyze your playing, and give you feedback on how to improve. He does this thoughtfully and makes it individualized. He's very organized, patient, and has online accounts for students to track their progress, view training programs, and access learning resources. Chris also offers zoom or in person sessions and is great at teaching kids (although he can teach any age, from beginner to advanced). Don't waste time with other teachers that tell you there's only one way to hold a stick or only one way to play the bass drum. Whether you want to learn to play drums, songs, make performance videos, or brush up technique, or just be all around better drummer, Chris is your guy. Thanks Chris!

I had a wonderful experience taking lessons from Chris Lemp at his Dynamic Drum School. "Dynamic" is really the word! Though I've been playing for 20 years, I wanted to work on the basics, and Chris expertly developed an approach tailored to fit my needs. My son and daughter stared lessons with Chris about 2 or 3 months ago. We looked into many teachers, but my kids really liked Chris the best. He has a lot of teaching experience with young students (My kids are 8 and 10) and is super patient. After observing Chris teach a few lessons, I was impressed how he figured out that my children learn differently. He really gears the lessons to fit how they each pick things up differently. He is teaching them songs they both really like. My son likes AC/DC and the Foo Fighters and my daughter likes music from Frozen and Taylor Swift. He is happy to teach them the songs they like and they have a ton a fun at the lessons. Overall Chris is really great with kids and I highly recommend him.

My 10 year old daughter had an interest in playing the drums for years. I was very hesitant because of the noise. My daughter kept insisting on playing drums and starting lessons, so I finally thought we would give it a try. About a 1 1/2 years ago we brought our daughter in for a trial lesson at the Dynamic Drum School and she loved it. I talked to Chris about the noise situation and he spent a lot of time explaining the different options for us. He did a lot of research for the different types of drum sets we could get (I really appreciated him taking the time to do that because I had no clue where to start). We settled on an electronic set that he recommended and my daughter is so happy.

She really looks forward to her lesson every week and spends time practicing too. Chris is really great with her. He is really patient and enthusiastic when he teaches. My daughter is a little rocker and Chris teaches her lots of punk and rock songs that she loves. I have really been amazed at the progress she has made while studying with Chris for only a 1 1/2 years. I used to take drum lessons and played in the Jazz band when I was in High School, but it had been over 20 years since I had played. I really wanted to start playing drums again and wanted to find a teacher that could teach me jazz, traditional grip and some other fun styles of drumming. I searched all over Orange County and tried several teachers, but once I had my trial lesson with Chris I knew he was just what I was looking for. He really knows his stuff. He studied with some incredible jazz legends like Alan Dawson, Joe Morello, John Riley and Bob Moses. He has helped me greatly with my technique and understanding how to play jazz. He breaks things down like the Moeller technique and different jazz concepts really well. I feel like I am able grasp things more quickly because of how well he explains things. We have also gotten into Afro-Cuban, funk, Motown and blues drumming.
