Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a list of commonly asked questions about our program. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

What is a good age to start the drums?

I recommend to start at 6 or 7 years old. That way the student can reach the foot pedals and their attention span can last for 30 minutes.

I have always wanted to play the drums, but I feel I am too old to start learning an instrument?

I believe that you are never too old to start learning any instrument. Learning a new instrument can be such a joy and it will give you a creative outlet in your life. I currently have a student that is 82 years old.

Do I need to buy a drum set in order to start drum lessons?

No you don’t need a drum set, but I highly recommend that you do have one when taking lessons. Playing on a drum pad does not give you the same experience that playing on a full drum set does. I have found that younger students tend to stick with the instrument longer if they start out with a drum set as soon as they start playing the instrument.

What if we can't make a lot of noise because we live in an apartment or we can't afford a drum set?

You can purchase an electronic drum set or a practice pad drum set so the volume will not bother your neighbors. And a great way to save money on a drum set is to buy a used drum set on craigslist or ebay. I will be happy to help you find a used drum set so you know that you are getting a good deal.

How much do lessons cost?

See our pricing page.

Do you offer in-home lessons?

Yes, on a very limited basis. See the pricing page for the hourly amount.

How do you charge for lessons? Is there a long term contract?

No, lessons are charged on a monthly basis. So you are only paying month to month. If you ever want to discontinue lessons you just need to give two weeks notice.

Do I have to start paying for a month right away?

No, you can schedule a free evaluation to make sure that you or your child feels comfortable before you register for a month of lessons.

If I register for lessons and start on the second or third week of the month, do I have to still pay for the whole month?

No, the payment will be pro-rated.

What if I only want to pay for one lesson at a time?

There is a higher rate for one lesson at a time. $70 for an hour lesson.

Do you offer any Military discounts?

Yes, we offer a 10% discount to Active Duty, Veterans, and their children.
